The new containers’ terminal of the Port of Paita was inaugurated in a ceremony with the presence of the Peruvian president, Ollanta Humala, and several ministers.
The modernization works of Peru’s second largest port have been fully executed by Mota-Engil Peru and have represented an investment of almost 160 million dollars. The Port of Paita is a strategic point for the commercial policy because it will enable the integration into the international market with fewer costs, since it will be able to receive and operate larger ships.
Jorge Balsemão, Mota-Engil Peru’s CEO, would stress “the transfer of technology to Peru” and the state-of-the-art and innovative technologies used in this project, that ended symbolically 24 hours before the deadline.
